So by now im hoping all our readers know that we are organising a panel discussion on ‘Digital Media in the Next Decade‘ in collaboration with ECell, IIT Bombay at PCSaxena Auditorium (also know as lecture theatre or LT) today at 5.30pm onwards.

Now inspite of 250 people booking to come for the event we were still getting request for invites so we thought of increasing 50 more seats just hours before the event. So guys you can either register here or you can do an on the spot registration at IIT by showing up before 5:30pm.

With regards to those finding it difficult to travel today as there is some issue with cabs and rickshaw’s we have arranged for a WATBlog bus service (yes Im not kidding!) which will leave from Andheri east station near Better home furniture showroom by 4:15 pm. How to identify the bus? Well it will have a WATBlog banner across both sides of the bus and WATBloggers would be there wearing a WATBlog tshirt!

We had earlier blogged about how the DTH platform had become a battle platform for the two leading matrimony players shaadi and bharatmatrimony who had tied up with two leading DTH players and announced their tie ups on the same day. I am not sure what’s cooking between Bharatmatrimony and Shaadi but they seem to be aping each other so fast that its difficult to tell who copied whom!!

Infact their latest feature release was announced on the same day and press releases landed in my inbox minutes after each other! I have a recommendation I feel if there are going to ape each other so much its better to do a joint release instead!

Well jokes apart here is what both bharatmatrimony and shaadi.com have launched a personalised assisted matrimony services for busy professionals i.e. a call centre for matrimony services. So busy professionals can talk a matrimony personal assistant via phone who can help prospective bride/grooms find the ideal partner.

What are they calling this service?

While Shaadi.com is calling this Sapphire – an Assisted Matrimonial Service while Bharatmatrimony is calling it BM Privilege.

Is there any difference between the two services?

Well Ill let their press releases do the talking here check Bharatmatrimony’s release and compare it to Shaadi’s release. Lets play spot the difference between them.. Any one?

Why this move of going in call centre mode?

Well for starters this is a paid service. And by the cost mentioned in one of the releases bharatmatrimony seems to be charging Rs 8650 for 3 months for this service as an inaugral offer. Even if 10000 users subscribe to the 3 month package over a peroid of the next year that would mean 8.5 crore in revenue. Though honestly I see this as a tough sell and would be surprised if more than 1000-2000 people subscribe as offline marriage bureau’s charge far lesser.
