Cleartrip Powers Hotel Search & Booking On IRCTC Website

Cleartrip which had earlier included railway train search and then booking availability on its travel portal seems to have strengthen the ties further with IRCTC. Cleartrip has announced that it has become the exclusive partner to IRCTC’s website railtourismindia.com to power hotel search and booking on the same.

Cleartrip had been more in the news lately for its corporate travel planning product and its extension into rail search and bookings. Hotels have always been a low key product at Cleartrip. Travelguru a player which started as full services OTA has been a front runner now when it comes to hotel booking infact so much so that they have completely outsourced their flight bookings to iXiGo.

Ideally Travelguru given its laser sharp focus on hotels one would have thought that they would be an ideal partner and it makes a lot of sense for them as well because IRCTC does have tremendous traction on its sites. Nevertheless Travelguru’s loss is Cleartrip’s gain which seems to have used its API first time on a third party site. I wont be surprised if we see travel booking widgets being rolled out by travel players which can be embedded by anyone anywhere for bookings. After all distribution via many platforms is only going to increase the no of bookings for these platforms.

Zapak Ties Up With Pringoo - Launches Gaming Merchandise Shopping Site

Zapak.com Reliance ADAG’s online gaming portal  has tied up with Pringoo.com an ecommerce website for custom designed merchandise to launch shopping.zapak.com a gaming merchandise shopping site. This site will offer products such as T-shirts, mugs and soft toys that would complement the games that are there on zapak right now.

This is big deal for Pringoo which is still not a funded player and expects 25% of its total revenue to come from this deal. Zapak has a very strong Indian base of users and It has recently been selling a lot of movie merchandise itself so this tie up is a way to rope in a specialists and use one’s platform to sell merchandise and have revenue share on the same.

Myntra one of the well funded players has had many such tie ups to increase visibility and sales at the same time. There are some other smaller players like inkfruit that seems to be counting on the power of the long tail by offering bloggers to embed a widget on their blog and sharing revenue with them.

All in all pringoo has a lot of work to do as there also been a consolidation in this space with Picsquare being acquired by Infibeam and their intention to move into the merchandise space. More such tie ups should be the need of the hour for pringoo. As far as zapak is concerned anything that adds an additional revenue stream with little or no investment is most welcome I guess.
