SchoolMATE is a Saas based product offered to institutes which helps track student performance, teacher performance, analysis of financial information, staff payroll, timetable, attendance etc. As it is a simple SMS based service it has better adoption.

Speaking on the occasion of this announcement, Mr. Raviraj Jayram, Head- Marketing, BIGFlix.com, said, "Kishore Biyani's Future Group has a massive retail presence with a large loyal customer base in the country. We are excited about our partnership with the group and confident that this alliance will help reach a much wider base of customers. With this partnership we are looking forward to many more offers for our existing as well as new customers in future. Also, alliances and tie-up with leading companies across sectors is on the anvil which will help us meet with our objective of bringing in entertainment at home in the common man's daily life anytime anywhere, thus revolutionizing and taking home video industry in this country to the next dimension".

This partnership will surely provide reach to bigflix and is ofcourse way cheaper than setting up its own stores across the country. I think given the slowdown more such tie ups which are mutually beneficial would come in focus as its the best way to leverage each others strength’s and focus on one’s core competencies. Startups should constantly look for tie ups where distribution and marketing is concerned.

Eating Too Much? Getting Fat?? Now Count Your Calories On Gtalk!

Well if you thought we are transforming into a health or lose some weight blog then think again (even though I need to lose weight).. I just stumbled upon Lifemojo’s blog the new startup we covered a while back and came across a new tool launch which I completely loved. There are few tools out there that are nifty, smart, useful and thoughtful as well as a great branding plug all at the same time.

Lifemojo has launched a gtalk im bot that lets you know calories of any kind of food.

One may ask how is that? And how does it work?

Well its fairly simple just add calories@lifemojo.com on your gtalk im and then send a food name as a msg. For eg if you ask sandwich.. It provides calories across various types of sandwiches be it cheese, egg, grilled or even hyderabadi sandwich! And that’s not all lets say you send a message again being specific about what you are going to eat i.e. grilled cheese sandwich then it even tells you in how many minutes you can shed those calories i.e. by jogging, walking, climbing stairs etc

Check screenshot below:

All in all this is one of the most useful and intelligent tools ive seen in a longtime. Im sure if marketed well among women (who usually think they are fat when they may just be 2kgs overweight) this product would be a hit! Also addictive given that its on gtalk. Full marks to guys at lifemojo for being creative with their thinking!
